TEC 962 Google Maps and Earth in the Classroom
Learn to incorporate Google Maps and Google Earth into creative, standards-based lessons, and personalize the features that have direct application to your classroom. This course provides participants the ability to explore the planet from a desktop or handheld devise using Google Maps and Google Earth. From a ground-level look outside their front door in their own neighborhood, to a view of the continent from space, Google Maps and Earth will help teachers take their classroom students to places beyond imagination!
Students can use these tools to visually explore history and news, and to learn map-reading skills. They can follow the paths of the great explorers or take a journey through a favorite book with literature trips. Teachers will also be able to expand students' information literacy skills by modeling how to navigate maps electronically as well as embed maps into documents and websites. Each project is directly tied to specific ISTE National Educational Technology Standards and the CCSS. This course is applicable to all grade levels and does not require students.
